The Gwangju Busking Worldcup is back! The world’s biggest street music competition (unfortunately the competition is only open to musicians), has returned with a total of 100 million KRW (approx. $75,000 USD) in prize money up for grabs.
It sounds too good to be true (and I know some buskers were skeptical last year), but listen to 2022’s finalists talk about their experience here:
To enter, you will need to send them a video of your performance. If you make it through the first two rounds, you will be invited to perform in the finals in South Korea.
The finals will be held in October 2023. Top place will be awarded 50 million KRW (approx. $38,000), with the remaining prize pool being split between the runners up. Finalists who make it through the preliminary round will be provided with round trip tickets to Korea (for up to three persons).
