The London Underground network boasts one of the most successful and innovative collaborations between a major urban transport network and struggling musicians. The London Underground Busking scheme has influenced many other schemes in many other cities around the world, all of which have seen equally fruitful results.

Contrary to popular belief, buskers who perform on the London underground are not vagrants or beggars. Many are skilled, professionally trained musicians, who have to pass a strict audition process in order to gain a buskers licence.

There are currently 356 licensed buskers, performing regularly at over 30 sites in 22 station around London.

David Johnson is one of these buskers.
