Thanks to April Denée for doing this — Busk! looks really promising. Here’s the details:

BUSK! is a character-driven documentary that explores how an emerging cultural center like Charlotte, NC can – (and should!) – encourage street art and performance toward social, cultural, and economic growth.

To accomplish this, the film will follow street artists who regularly perform at the busiest intersection in uptown Charlotte. Even though their reasons and aspirations for performing are drastically different, there are striking similarities in what they enjoy about street art, how people respond to them, and the “business” side of what they do.

Through the artists’ day-to-day experiences, BUSK! will explore their backgrounds, motivations, lifestyles, and obstacles as well as the Charlotte community’s responses to street art, answering questions like…

How do these street artists fit within Charlotte’s demographics? How did they decide upon their chosen public locations, and how do they transport required equipment and props to these locations? How do different populations within the city, including law enforcement, respond to their art or performance? How much earning potential does their street art or performance provide?

BUSK!, with an inquisitive and playful spirit, will both entertain and enlighten toward an appreciation for community art and performance that reaches beyond the walls of a gallery, theater, or concert hall.
