Making payments to you via your profile is easy, through card payments and PayPal. But, before you use a system like that, you might have concerns over security. So, here’s how it works.

Debit/Credit Card Payments

Security

We use a super-secure system called “Stripe”. You can imagine that they’re kinda like PayPal but for card payments. They have the industry’s highest mark for security, and they are the ones who handle all your sensitive data, not us. They handle payments for some of the biggest companies on the planet – Lyft, Shopify, SquareSpace, Kickstarter, GoFundMe, SalesForce, and many others.

Payments via the website

On your profile on the website, people click “tip me”, enter the amount they want to pay you (the default listed amount is £/$/€ 5, enter their card details and click “tip”.

Commission

You’ll receive, on average, 99.51% of the tips, losing the rest in fees. See the commissions explained here.

PayPal Payments

Security

The PayPal system is also super secure, and, if there are fraudulent charges, you can get a refund from the company. It’s also really easy to use (easier than entering card info) for people who are registered with PayPal.

Payments via the website

On your profile on the website, people click “tip me”, enter the amount they want to tip (the default is £/€/$ 5), enter their PayPal email/password, and click “tip”.

Commission

We have no control over how much PayPal charges you for tips—that takes place off of busk.co. However, depending on where you are in the world, and how much the tip is for, you will lose between 2% and 30% of your tips in commissions from PayPal. See the commissions explained here.
