PLATFORMS is Looking for Performers

Founded in 2012, Made Public is a Community Interest Company based in Romford, East London. Made Public is made up of a team of creative and socially minded individuals who aim to regenerate our community through art, performance and inspiring events.

Thanks to funding from the Lord Mayors High Street Fund, we are incredibly excited to announce the launch of PLATFORMS, Romford’s first ever street performance festival and we’re on the look out for amazing acts to include in the programme.

Through street performance and public events Made Public will transform South Street Romford and challenge the way residents use public spaces. From poets to prancers, singers to storytellers, magicians to musicians- all performers are welcome to take their turn in the spotlight. The public will also be invited to use the constructs for their own purposes, be it settling down for a spot of lunch with friends, hosting an event for a local social group or just chilling out and catching a moments rest after a long and tiring shopping trip. Drawing inspiration from Romford’s history as a market town, portable, stall shaped structures have been created to house these performances, events and get-togethers that will take place each day up and down the thoroughfare. Supported by The Mayors High Street Fund and The London Borough of Havering Council, PLATFORMS will launch in March 2016 and promises to bring the best of street entertainment and events to the residents of Romford, creating an exciting, energetic atmosphere in the heart of our town. we will pay per performance and need between 20 and 30 performers for a performance every day between 26th march and 30th april. The act can stay as long as they wish from an hour to all day if they wish and can ‘hat the crowd’ This is about bringing energy and enthusiasm to our town and giving local and new acts a chance as well as those that have more experience.
